Job Description and Responsibilities

About the Role:

The Protein Associate plays a hands-on role in the Atlanta Community Food Bank's mission to fight hunger by safely and efficiently repacking produce and protein for distribution to partner agencies and families in need. This position works in a cold-storage environment and helps ensure food safety, quality, and efficiency throughout the repack process.

Repack Operations:

  • Sort, portion, label and package PRODUCE and other items for distribution.
  • Operate safely in cold environments while following all food handling procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary workspace in compliance with food safety standards.
  • Follow daily production goals and communicate any equipment or product issues to the supervisors.

Quality and Safety:

  • Ensure all products meet quality and safety standards.
  • Follow HACPP and food safety protocols at all times.
  • Assist with inventory checks and help track product movement from receiving to storage.

Basic Requirements:

  • Must be 18 years old or older
  • Ability to work in cold environments for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
  • Strong work ethic, punctuality, and willingness to learn new processes.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and cleanliness standards.

Preferred:

  • Previous warehouse, food handling, or production experience is a plus.
  • High school diploma or GED (preferred but not required)

Physical Demands:

  • Routinely required to lift and transport heavy items to waist level, up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, reaching, and walking are required.
  • Frequently operates in temperature conditions consistent with outside weather. Frequently transition between ambient and refrigerator/freezer temperatures.

Shifts / Schedule

  • Sunday through Thursday
  • Must be available to work weekends and flexible hours, as needed.
